About Me

Hi, I'm Michael, a somewhat introverted artist with a new passion for the art of metal hand engraving.  I find joy in the meticulous process of turning steel into art, whether it's through intricate scrollwork on coins, engraving items for others or decorating metal objects, I just keep finding more and more items that can be engraved.

Engraving for me is more than a hobby; it's a journey of mastering detail and craftsmanship. I'm inspired by the works of other artists, the toughness of steel, and spiritual guidance, all of which I channel into my creations. Apart from my workbench, you'll catch me supporting the Phoenix Suns, watching UFC matches, or spending quality time with my family.

My core values—respect, hard work, compassion, resilience, pride and discipline—shape every piece I engrave. While I aim to excel in this art, my priorities also include health, financial security, and finding joy in life's simple moments. Currently, I balance this passion with a fulfilling career at a family-owned steel building business, where I've been since 1998, a security job on the weekends and involvement in a 12 step program (since 2015), all of which I plan to continue for the foreseeable future.

Through this site, I document my path in engraving, sharing both my triumphs and the challenges working with different types of metal materials and continuing to improve my scrollwork designs. It's about the journey as much as the destination—celebrating each practice piece and the gifts I make for those close to me.
